Neural therapy uses injection to stimulate a repair response in tissue that is not healing on its own. At Dr. Abbie Clinics it is used alongside prolotherapy.
It is considered for persistent problems where other treatment has not resolved the pain. Whether it is appropriate for you is decided at the assessment.
Our injection therapies include prolotherapy, short for proliferation therapy: an injection that encourages the body to grow new tissue where it has become weak.
The order we follow
Biomechanically
1. Assess
Find the reason the joint or tendon is under strain.
Orthotics and joints
2. Align and adjust
Correct the foundation with orthotics and free up the joints.
Last, not first
3. Inject
Only then inject, so the repaired tissue is not put straight back under the same strain.
01
How prolotherapy works
A dextrose (sugar-water) solution is injected where a ligament or tendon attaches to bone. It causes local inflammation, which increases blood supply and prompts the tissue to repair itself.
02
Where it is used
Ankles, knees and hips: joint wear, weakened ligaments and long-standing tendon problems.
03
How many treatments
It varies with how each person heals. Your practitioner will talk you through what to expect for your condition.
How it works here
Assessment first,then treatment
Injection Therapy is prescribed against a diagnosis, never against a
symptom. That is what the Najjarine Biomechanical Assessment is for.
01
Assess
The assessment establishes the diagnosis and whether injectable therapy is a reasonable step for it.
02
Treat
If it is, your podiatrist will explain what is involved, including what to expect afterwards, before anything goes ahead.
03
Address the cause
As with every treatment here, it is paired with addressing the mechanical cause rather than used on its own.
